The Green Backyard

The Green Backyard is a community growing project located in central Peterborough run by volunteers from the local community and all walks of life. We thought what they were doing was so positive that we lent a hand by creating their brand, which had to be positive and genuinely "green" without coming across as boring or preachy. We also took photos, designed posters and built their new website

Website Design

The Green Backyard website includes:

  • Email Newsletter Signup
  • Property Listings
  • Image Gallery
  • Interactive Site Map
  • News Modules
  • Content Management System

Extending upon our custom in-house CMS 'Amoeba', the web site is fully editable by the Green Backyard team, who can add events, news and edit other key pages of the website.

Logo Design and Branding

The Green Backyard logo was designed to be universally appealing, while representing the garden and it's wildlife, conservation/protection of the environment and communicating the letter 'G'. Because the project is so interesting and constantly creating a buzz, we have since seen the logo all over the city on wall murals, large banners, hessian bags, tshirts, car stickers and in the local press.

"Free Thinking Design really took on board what we wanted, came back with some brilliant ideas and we're so happy with the end results, they perfectly reflect what the project is about and will help us reach out to many, many more people. It's also amazing to see businesses getting involved in supporting local community initiatives."
